< img src = ”unknown” > is comprised of unsolicited dick pics, free use found imagery of national monuments, statues, and popular culture items, and screen shots of messages I have received from men online. Inspired by Whitney Bell and Richard Prince, the work is manifested virtually and physically: it lives on a website (that is yet to be public) and in a physical space of images displayed salon style within the gallery space. The work uses these appropriated images to explore issues of public verses private in virtual spaces, content ownership on the internet, objectification in the virtual age, legality and representation, consent, authorship, inversion of the male gaze, mediated distance, and representation of the prevalence of aggression and harassment within the epistolary sexual disposition of this time.
